The BC Premier has promised new rules to favour Canadian suppliers in public-sector procurement (although some of this is already in place).
What could this look like in our schools? Take Richmond school libraries. Aside from Indigenous and French-language collections, the vast majority of books are American. If we want to support Canadian businesses and creators, shouldn’t our school districts consider doing the same?
