【Statement from Advance Richmond 】
Last night, photos and videos were circulated online and in messaging groups alleging that Advance Richmond is refusing to pay bills and lacks funds. Advance Richmond has continued to make payments to suppliers. The claim that we have never made payments is false.
We wish to clarify the following:
1. The photos and videos were taken inside our campaign office, not at a supplier’s premises. The green partitions, desks and campaign materials match those in our office. 2. Our landlord does not speak Cantonese. The Cantonese-speaking person claiming to be our landlord in the video is not our landlord. 3. Our campaign vests were not printed in Vancouver. Showing photographs of these vests does not establish that the person making the allegations produced them or is owed payment by Advance Richmond. 4. The invoice being circulated does not bear our association’s name and does not, by itself, establish the alleged debt.
The individuals involved entered and filmed inside our campaign office without our permission. We have reported this suspected unlawful entry and filming to the RCMP.
We have preserved the photos, videos and records of their circulation, and have requested removal of the false claims, corrections and apologies. Any billing questions should be directed to our financial agent for verification and resolution.
We ask the public not to circulate unverified allegations. Advance Richmond reserves the right to take further action.
