Richmond students deserve fair competition.
When boys’ races and girls’ races are removed, and winners are no longer recognized, we need to ask whether this is truly fair to the students who train hard, compete seriously and strive to improve.
Participation matters, but achievement should matter too. Schools should encourage inclusion without erasing competition, fairness and recognition.
