Sophia Woo has a masters degree in social work and is a mental health clinician and researcher. Her previous experience as a school trustee with the Vancouver School Board (VSB) has equipped her with skills to balance priorities in public office while maintaining best financial management practices.
Woo has advocated for school safety, drug prevention and parental involvement. She and former VSB chair Dr. Kenneth Denike had successfully negotiated with the federal government for funding settlement workers at school districts. She is running again because she sees glaring problems at the school district. They are having budget shortfalls partially because we are losing students to private schools, we need to do something about our programs.
