Professional and community background
Born at Richmond Hospital, Sheldon Starrett is a dedicated lifelong local resident with a deep passion for public service and community advocacy. Bringing strong analytical skills from his background in public policy and his current role as a beverage industry professional and consultant with the BC Liquor Distribution Branch, Sheldon offers a practical, detail-oriented approach to local governance and enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge of wine, spirits, sake, and beer with members of the community and local restauranteurs.
Sheldon has been a prominent and vocal community leader against harmful drug policies, including supervised consumption sites and unmonitored low-barrier supportive modular housing projects. He has consistently brought together residents from diverse backgrounds to demand safety, transparency, and accountability at City Hall. Beyond his policy advocacy, Sheldon has previous experience with the Rotary Club and various non-profit organizations dedicated to civic engagement and good governance.
To deliver real, effective change for the city, Sheldon joined Advance Richmond to champion a strong, united team that puts community priorities ahead of local politics.
